How do you tell your child about death?
Author: Sandra G

Have you prepared your child for the loss of a loved one? I have; and it works wonders in a time when you can't think straight yourself.
Whether you are religious or not, matters little when you are a child. Children need something to believe in and something that they can hold on to. I am not preaching or passing on a new religion. I am offering you a chance to get something very special for your child. Something that they will carry with them thruout their lives.
This book is available in e-book form and is pressently being put into hard copy. If you wish to find out how to get yourself a copy of this keepsake simply e-mail me. I would love hearing from you. I hope this book reaches many homes and families everywhere.
Dealing with death can be very difficult for anyone, but for a child it becomes one of the most difficult things to understand. Death can and does hit suddenly and without warning; this is not the time that you need to be thinking of how to explain to your child why or what has taken their loved one away.
A child needs to already have something in place that they can say OK, papa is not here anymore and I am going to miss him, but I know where he is and he is always going to be here by me no matter what. A child needs reassurance and understanding. They need to know that they have something to hold to at all times, something that they can reach out and touch at a moments notice, something that is real to them.
You as a parent are the one they look to for this, and while we are always there for our children, a time of bereavement can take us by such surprise and shock that we don't know how to address the delicate nature of children's needs.
I have written a children's book which touches on the subject of death in a way that a child can see and feel the reality of death without all the fear and distress that surrounds it.
Homesteading with Granny is a story of a little girl and her family who come from a long line of homesteaders. It takes a child through changes in life, such as having a close family that is always together and then having to move away from that family. How one child's granny teaches the child that it is OK to move on because out of sight doesn't mean out of heart.
It teaches the child that even in death we are all still a part of one another, and although we may not be around to see, we are always within.
This book will lead your child in a direction that will stay with him or her all through their lives, a direction that they will want to pass on to their own children. It gives a child something that they can hold onto and clutch during times of need.
Once your child has learned this little girls life's lesson it will become their own. This little book will open a whole new world of caring and understanding for your child, one which will surprise you in your time of need.
Homesteading with Granny was written and illustrated by Sandra Goodwin
About the Author:
The author of this book is a mother of seven children and a grandmother to 11. She lives on the coast of New Hampshire with her husband and two youngest daughters. She volunteers as a cook for Operation Blessing which is a charity center that caters to the needy and homeless. They offer food, clothing and financial support as well as spiritual guidance to those who seek it. She has written this story in order that parents would read it to their children. She hopes that it will help children to have a better understanding of sharing and caring and dealing with the loss of loved ones. It should give them a feel for their creator, whom ever that may be to them and their family. This book was started when Jo came into the lives of the authors loved ones. Jo is a lovely woman who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, but despite her condition shares her energy and love with all who come in contact her. She is truly loved and has given a bit of herself to all of us, We will carry with us this little bit of Jo throughout our lives. May her Creator bless her and keep her for all of eternity.

Ethical Wills
A will is a legal document telling your heirs what they get. An ethical will isnt a legal document, but directs your heirs with stories to hopefully lead them to a better life. You can also include why you direct funds with stories in an ethical will so your family will be able to understand your decisions. Remember, you wont be there to explain and you dont need a long explanation in a will. Thats just for the movies. Write short stories of your life that teach lessons or how and where you got your money. Dont have a list for them to read. If you have trouble writing, you can record your stories. This works well for children. Tell your kids the troubles you had so they can learn from them. It would also be helpful if you told them your medical information as they may inherit some of your medical issues. My father recently passed away and he left me no money or anything, but I did get his stories. He was trying to finish them, but only did a page at a time as he remembered...
